DevMountain Announces New Full-Time Immersive UX Design Course

DevMountain is proud to announce a new 13-week full-time User Experience Design course at our Salt Lake City, Utah campus! Our first UX Design immersive full-time course will start November 7th and already has students enrolled, so apply soon if you’re interested.

To meet high demand for a full-time UX course and to solve a major issue in UX Design education, DevMountain has built this course from the ground up. While foundational design principles and theory are incredibly important, many higher educational programs are falling behind in digital design instruction. Most programs are lengthy, expensive, and unable to update curriculum that needs to evolve hand in hand with the fast-paced technology industry.

“The majority of higher education institutions don’t have programs focused specifically on modern UX design, meaning graduates who want to work in the digital space have to either teach themselves or learn the additional skills from other resources,” say Cahlan Sharp, DevMountain CEO, “That’s where DevMountain’s new UX Design course can help.”

The design course at DevMountain is multi-faceted, covering all aspects of the design process from start to finish. While covering both mobile and web design principles students will practice creative discovery, ideation, critical thinking, research collection, wireframing / prototyping, basic front-end coding and more design best practices. The class will teach students to understand and meet modern web and mobile design standards in the product creation process, from first pondering user centered design and design thinking principles to testing their products on multiple devices and measuring the effectiveness of their designs.

Students will also learn design principles such as grid systems, typography, color theory, branding and systems-based design, design history and research methods. By the end of the 13-week course, the new designers will graduate with a well-rounded portfolio of work that shows everything they have learned and can achieve in the workplace.

DevMountain has partnered with and hired industry designers, developers, and organizations to ensure that the latest industry standards and technical design tools are taught in the classroom, preparing graduating students for current, real-world design roles. The course will prepare students to step into a variety of design roles: web designer, mobile designer, UX designer, UI designer, front-end designer, freelance designer, and more.

DevMountain’s new lead instructor, Brandon Beecroft, is an industry leader and brings 10 years of web design, UX, and UI expertise to the table.

“I couldn’t be more excited to work with our potential students on such an important skill set,” Beecroft said. “We have made sure that modern techniques and practices are taught, preparing our graduates to step into a junior design role on day one.”

DevMountain believes bridging the gap between education and UX design will have a massive impact on the products we use in the future and as a bootcamp DevMountain is ecstatic to be on the front lines of that change.
